After

What happens to belongings after a clearance?

People often want to know that what leaves the property is dealt with properly, not just tipped. Here is where things actually go.

Four streams, in this order

Keep

Anything named in advance, and anything uncertain, goes to the agreed keep zone before we move anything else. It stays in the property unless you ask us to move it somewhere.

Reuse and donation

Usable furniture, clothing, books and household goods go for reuse or donation where we can place them. This comes before recycling because it is the better outcome.

Recycling

Paper, card, metal, glass, textiles and electricals are separated on site so they can go to the right stream rather than into general waste.

Licensed disposal

What cannot be reused or recycled goes to licensed disposal under our waste carrier licence. Fridges, mattresses, paint and chemicals each have their own route.

Documents, keys and valuables

Paperwork, keys, cash, jewellery and anything that looks like it matters are set aside and handed over, not binned. On estate and landlord jobs they are bagged and passed to the person with authority for the property. If we find something like this mid clearance that was not on the keep list, it goes to the keep zone and we tell you.

Paperwork on request

Our waste carrier licence number is available on request, and for landlords, factors, housing providers and executors we can provide waste transfer paperwork for the file. You can also ask where a specific load went; we would rather tell you than have you wonder.

Things people ask

Can you sell items for me?

We do not sell on your behalf. If something appears to have value we set it aside and tell you, so you can decide what to do with it.

Can I get something back after the day?

Anything in the keep zone, yes. Once a load has gone for recycling or disposal it cannot be recovered, which is why anything uncertain is held rather than removed.

Do you take everything in one go?

Usually, though fridges, electricals and hazardous items may leave on a separate run because they go to a different facility.
